It depends. UV light systems kill airborne virus and microbial particles, but don’t capture contaminants. HEPA filtration systems capture most viruses, microbes, and contaminants like dust and pollen. PureAir systems combine UV lights with HEPA-like filters to clean your air, and also remove chemical odours and vapours.
Standard furnace filters are designed to remove larger particles like dust and dirt. Some include charcoal layers to eliminate odours. However, they are not designed to capture microscopic contaminants like viruses, bacteria, fine dust, or pollen.
Yes. Regular duct cleaning ensures that the entire system is cleared of built-up dust and contaminants, which can still happen — even with an indoor air quality system. If you have a heat recovery ventilator, make sure it’s cleaned regularly. We also offer sanitizing treatments to disinfect your duct system.
Yes. Indoor humidity of 30% to 50% is ideal. Higher or lower humidity can impact your home and your health. Dry indoor air can cause the following problems:
- Increased allergy symptoms
- Dry or itchy skin
- Dry coughs
- Window gaps — allowing outside air drafts
- Gaps in hardwood flooring
If you don’t already have one, consider installing a whole-home humidifier to maximize your indoor air quality and comfort.
We also install furnaces, air conditioners, humidifiers, and hot water tanks — from high-quality brands including Lennox, General Aire, and Bradford White.
